I am currently gathering stories for several anthologies. If you have a story that you would like to tell, whether it be for one of the anthologies I’m already working on or for a possible future project, I’d like to know.
So that I can better assess your story’s commercial appeal, how it might fit into my project, and the extent of development it requires in terms of interviewing and research, it would be helpful if you could answer all or some of the following questions:
- What would you tell people about your experience if you had just one sentence to say it?
- What was life like for you before the experience?
- What happened?
- What’s life like for you as a result of the experience?
- What obstacles did you overcome during the experience, and how did you overcome them?
- What were your lowest and highest moments during the process?
|
- If the experience was something you voluntarily accepted as a challenge, was there a point at which you almost changed your mind about proceeding? If so, why didn’t you?
- If you were tempted to quit once you’d embarked on your adventure, why didn’t you?
- Who or what inspired you during the process?
- What mistakes did you profit from?
- What would you do differently next time?
- What did you have to sacrifice?
- What were the unexpected breaks or realizations amid the struggle?
- Where does your story end? (This question helps to identify where it begins).
Please also include a one- or two-paragraph overview of your story. And don’t forget to include your e-mail address.
I’ll get back to you as soon as possible to let you know whether I’ll be able to use your story. If I decide to use it, I will need to interview you, either in person or via phone and e-mail.
Thank you very much for taking the time to tell me your story.
Send me your manuscript
